Picking up Project S-11 on the ModRetro Chromatic took me right back to those simpler times. I'm instantly reminded of sitting on the couch with my friends trading Game Boy Color cartridges after dinner. You guide a sturdy little ship through eight colorful stages packed with alien swarms, collecting power-ups that feel just as satisfying as they did back then. The Chromatic’s perfect screen makes the sprites glow with that same vibrant charm I remember, while the chiptune music wraps around you like an old friend. It’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, and that’s exactly why I love it. Pure, honest arcade action without all the modern fuss.
