A dead Power Core left inside a First Edition Chromatic for several weeks can be unrecoverable. We are releasing a Charging Station soon which will allow you to keep spare Power Cores charged and also revive dead Power Cores within a few minutes. Please be sure not to leave a dead Power Core in a First Edition Chromatic for several weeks to avoid putting it into an unrecoverable state.

    best of both worlds

    The wisdom behind the approach for powering the Chromatic is probably lost on non-modders, but like other aspects of the overall design it's the product of experience. The power core enhances that design by letting it support traditional AA batteries or a for-Chromatic rechargeable option. It's kept up with my play so far, so battery quality seems to be there too. The only thing I would think of changing is redoing the core shell so it's openable, letting you replace the cells inside if they die.

    Best of Both Worlds

    Convenient snap-in rechargeable battery for the Chromatic. Love having the option to use AA batteries as a backup, but I haven't had to do that yet since a single charge lasts me a while.

    Amazing company and products

    First the battery. What’s not to love with an easy user replaceable rechargeable battery? After the company learned that the first gen units have issues with charging near dead batteries, they were quick to find a solution that’s great for their customers. Until they deliver their standalone charger solution, they give customers with first gen units options on a replacement battery. Awesome products with outstanding customer service support.
