A dead Power Core left inside a First Edition Chromatic for several weeks can be unrecoverable. We are releasing a Charging Station soon which will allow you to keep spare Power Cores charged and also revive dead Power Cores within a few minutes. Please be sure not to leave a dead Power Core in a First Edition Chromatic for several weeks to avoid putting it into an unrecoverable state.

    Good Option for Those Not into Batteries

    Since I own a First Edition Chromatic, I was issued the version that cannot be charged when inside of the device -- it must be charged outside using a little dock and a USB-C cable. This isn't the ideal functionality, but it doesn't bother me because I have a bunch of rechargeable AAs I swap into my device while the power core is charging separately. So, for that use case, it works exactly as designed. It's always nice to have options!
