Gravitorque DX
A puzzle platformer where you control gravity instead of jumping, solving mind-bending levels across four distinct worlds.

You play as an astronaut who suffers a shipwreck and is now stranded in space. Use the Gravitational Torque Modifier to manipulate the direction of gravity and walk on walls and ceilings.
There is no jump button. Take on maze-like levels with a gravity-defying ability. Classic platformer logic is literally turned on its head, so you’ll have to adapt your spatial thinking to escape successfully.

How It Started
Nikita: I’ve been making games as a hobby since middle school and participated in a bunch of game jams with Maxim. That eventually led to us developing Gravitorque – our first full game.
Other Games / Projects
Nikita: I’ve made several Unity games, mostly for jams. One of my more unique projects was Sky of Isotopes – a VR experience where the table of nuclides is visualized as a starfield, with each star representing an isotope.
Maxim: Outside of our joint work, most of my projects were visual or design-based. Gravitorque is my first completed game project.
Fun Fact
Nikita: When designing Gravitorque’s levels, I’d often draw a random squiggly line and use that as the solution path – then build the puzzle around it.
The Idea
Why I Made This Game
Nikita: Gravitorque started as a nameless 3-level prototype I built in Game Maker Studio back in 2017... and then forgot about. When Maxim and I teamed up again in 2022, I pitched remaking it – and, for fun, we decided to use GB Studio instead of a traditional engine.
What Makes This Game Special
Nikita: Having my game running on a real Game Boy is honestly a dream come true.
Maxim: It’s the first game I’ve ever completed, and that alone makes it special.
You'll Love This If...
You're a puzzle-platformer fan, but it’s accessible enough for casual players too.
Inspiration / Influences
Nikita: Portal was a huge inspiration. Like in Portal, the player has one core tool, and new mechanics come from how puzzles are designed, not from unlocking new powers.
Maxim: The main character was inspired by female characters from Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari. That helped guide the pixel design and made the sprite readable with minimal detail.
Favorite Feature
Nikita: I love the auto-rotation mechanic introduced in the later levels.
Maxim: My favorite part is the third zone, where you explore the inside of a crashed spaceship.

I love puzzle games.
This one takes a lot of getting used to. I have played other games with a gravity shift mechanic, but this one is very counter intuitive at first. Most games using gravity, flip you 180 degrees. This one rotates it 90 degrees. Basically, you always fall into the direction you are facing next. And as silly as that sounds, it really turns the way you think about movement on its head.
Worth playing for sure.
