Each Anduril Edition Chromatic is finished by hand in America with Cerakote, the same ultra durable ceramic-polymer formulation that protects Ghost – Anduril’s flagship autonomous air vehicle. 

Titanium Nitride (a finish typically reserved for high performance tooling) is applied to each screw through vapor deposition. A Sapphire screen cover provides near diamond-hardness, protecting the Anduril wordmark and custom display below – engineered to match the exact same size, subpixel structure, and color balance required to experience Game Boy games as the original artists intended.

The body of Chromatic is made from the same magnesium aluminum alloy as Anduril’s attack drones, and is further decorated with custom CNC grooving. All six sides of the device are painstakingly fixtured and laser-etched on every single interaction point. 

The Anduril logo charm is crafted from stainless 304, and is protected indefinitely by a PVD Titanium Nitride finish.

    Got a big piece of my childhood back, even better this time around!!

    I had no idea the Chromatic even existed until a few weeks ago. Had an Xbox Series X and probably about thirty games for it, but honestly between work and taking care of things at home never had enough time to just play and make any real progress. Obviously with everything that has to go into modern games these days, there's no more simplicity, and just the basic enjoyment of sitting down with your Gameboy and sliding in a cartridge and switching the power on without logging in online or long loading times etc. and getting right into the enjoyment and engagement. So I traded in all of my Xbox games and system, and began searching online for a retro handheld system with good reviews and solid construction. Didn't take long before I stumbled onto MODRETRO's site and saw the new Chromatic. After just a few minutes of reading reviews and how ecstatic the customers are over the build quality and modern materials and upgrades from the original Gameboy, plus the fact it plays both Gameboy and Gameboy color games, while still giving the old-school feel and excitement, I was sold. The hardest decision was what color I wanted to order and whether I wanted the gorilla glass or the sapphire screen. Well got the Cloud version and the Sapphire display because I figured I'm going all in, lol. Have had my Chromatic now for a handful of days and I'm as happy as I was when I was a little boy and got my Gameboy for Christmas in the very early 90s. This is truly the greatest gift ever to myself.…

    The real thing

    I decided to pull the trigger on this after watching positive reviews on YouTube. I already knew the build quality was superb, and game compatibility was excellent. I’m happy to confirm both counts are absolutely correct. I have tested multiple official games, plus 10 indie games, and haven’t experienced any issues.

    I haven’t had a chance to open it up and see how it looks on the inside, but I’ll be doing that soon as I also got the mod kit.
