    It’s a Gameboy

    It plays GB/GBC; I’ve been enjoying Pokemon Blue on it. The screen is particularly great. The aluminum feel good in the hand, much better than I expected: cold to touch! The metal parts also are fitted together well with no gaps. Battery life has been good, although I used the lower brightness settings.

    Software is good: easy to update the Chromatic and the Tetris cart. As for Tetris, modretro Tertris is still Tetris and is great.

    Biggest downside is false diagonals with the Dpad—I enabled no diagonals in the Chromatic software to deal with that, and it’s a fine solution. Otherwise the buttons feel great and have a nice tactile clack.

    Great at Quick Play

    The main reason I wanted to a the Chromatic, was I wanted that quick play with out logins. It lives up to the hype. I love how quick you can start game play. I have already spent hours just playing Tetris as I used to back when I was kid.

    I have also found a number of Gameboy games locally and they are start up great with the Chromatic.

    In good millennial fashion, I am drawn to anything retro and have been obsessed with Pac-Man lately. I discovered ModRetro from social media and was instantly interested in the Chromatic. I tend to have shoppers paralysis, so it definitely took me time to make this purchase. However its the best decision I made, as I love the quality and performance of the Chromatic. 10/10
