    A must have for any Gameboy fan

    This is the ultimate way for a Gameboy fan to play not only original games but the excellent Modretro releases/new games.

    The build quality is amazing, the screen is fantastic and the one thing I find with some modern systems to play retro games on is that their dpad and buttons just dont feel like they used to and especially with Nintendo systems their dpads were always fantastic and the Chromatic one is great to use.

    It is basically the perfect Gameboy Color

    The Chromatic is an amazing little device, basically a modern version of the GBC. It is small and can be carried around easily. The battery will last a long time. It is super durable and will resist a lot of damage, especially to its screen. It plays all original Gameboy and Gameboy Color games.

    The visuals and sound are great. The screen is sharp, bright and looks like you wanted the original non-light GBC screen to look. The colors are perfect. It also comes with a ton of options, even more in further updates. The updating process itself is super simple and nicely explained on the website.

    I do love the new options to easily choose between different color sets in certain games. So you can play original Gameboy games either in their classic green look, go for a sharp grey look or see a few options how these would have been colorized on an original Gameboy Color or Super Gameboy.

    The controls are snappy and durable and in the options you can disable diagonals. That is helpful in some games, so keep that in mind. I am happy that something that was a complain in early youtube reviews actually got a fix later down the line, it shows that ModRetro is listening to feedback.

    Even better there is an entire line of Chromatic games, cartridges that will also work with original hardware. There are some amazing indie games that get the full physical treatment with their own box, manual as well as a little charm for additional... charm. We also get some original GBC games returning…

    Awesome

    Glad Modretro released these again. Missed out on the 1st editions but got some GameStop 1st editions and now got the wave and inferno new versions. Great product and a good way to play those old carts.

    Nothing on the market compares to this thing (and I own the other guys too) . this things is colorful, screen is beautiful, it feels weighty (in a good way) in your hands, and I love going down memory lane with my old games!

    By far my favorite handheld.

    I loved my first Chromatic so much that I wound up buying three more (a couple for myself + one for my niece). What people say about this thing isn't an exaggeration. It really is the perfect tribute to the GBC and playing it makes me feel like a kid again.
