    Nostalgia, 21st Century Style

    If you grew up playing the Game Boy like I did, then the Chromatic is like reliving the past but with a premium, 21st century feel. The unit has a well-built, luxurious look and feel, neither bulky nor tiny, solid but not hefty or cumbersome. In other words, Goldilocks all the way. The display is bright and crisp, and it's fun popping in random cartridges to see them glow and take on new life. And the sound is likewise clear and rich. (I can't wait to hear the tracks to Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy Adventure and Pokemon Blue when I eventually get around to playing through those titles again.) I haven't compared this against contemporaneous competitors, I'll leave that to other reviewers. For those of you with a collection of Game Boy games and a unit that's decades old, this is a worthy purchase that will compete for your attention even against the likes of modern consoles such as the Switch 2.

    Maybe my favorite gaming device that I’ve bought!

    I absolutely love the chromatic! I’m so happy that there is a gameboy clone that is over built and high quality for those who want it. The buttons feel great, the screen is beautiful to look at, and it’s overall a very reassuring device. It’s also great that new games are coming out for it.

    The only negatives that I have to share are that the IR blaster was scuffed when it arrived and the bundled Tetris cartridge also looked used from I’m assuming testing. Fortunately, I’ve heard their support team is very responsive to these issues.

    Overall, this device really has breathed new life into my gameboy collection and it’s just such a joy to use. If you are passionate about gameboy, I’d highly recommend the chromatic!

    My favorite handheld!

    I love the Chromatic. The whole device has a very high build quality with an outstanding screen that shows a very pleasing color reproduction, a dpad with accurate diagonals and the best is, it is just plug and play. I use the system menu very rarely, because there is just no need to do so the majority of the time I use the Chromatic. Some minor things could be improved. The AB buttons are a bit loud, the closure of the battery lid is a tad too sharp and selecting a color palette for GB games is a bit uncomfortable.
