How It Started
I’ve been interested in game development since I was young, but it was during the COVID pandemic – when I had more free time – that I really dove in. I decided to learn how to make Game Boy games and ended up self-publishing an adventure RPG called Dragonborne.
Other Games / Projects
Dragonborne, Dracula: Dark Reign, and more titles currently in the works!
Fun Fact
When I made Dragonborne, I was completely new to GB Studio – and honestly, I didn’t use any design or planning docs. I just scripted straight from my head into the engine. Whatever I thought of next made it into the game! That spontaneous process helped shape the foundation for what eventually became Dragonyhm. These days, things are much more structured – we now use detailed design docs and thorough planning for all current and future releases.
The Idea
Why I Made This Game
Dragonyhm is the game I always wanted Dragonborne to be. With more experience, better tools, and the amazing talent of Bumbiss on board, we were able to fully realize the vision we originally had.
What Makes This Game Special
I’ve always been a huge fan of JRPGs. So creating something that resonates with other fans of the genre – something that feels like it can stand alongside the games I grew up loving – that’s incredibly special.
You'll Love This If...
You’re a fan of classic RPGs and JRPGs like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy – you’ll love the storytelling and turn-based battles. And if you enjoy Zelda-style dungeon exploration and puzzle-solving, you’ll feel right at home too.
Inspiration / Influences
Dragonyhm draws from classic JRPGs and action-adventures like The Legend of Zelda. Grandia inspired real-time encounters, save shrines, and parts of the battle system. The damage portrait is a nod to Doomguy from Doom, while dungeon design and puzzles borrow from our favorite Zelda titles.
Favorite Feature
A few standout moments for me: the encounter with Balmosyr, Kris acquiring Gonszilfr, the dramatic return to the palace to face Rykard, and of course – the ending sequence.

The Hype of this game lives up to it. A wonderfully fun and feature full turn based rpg. The creativity that has gone into newly made gameboy games is so impressive. The world building and story in Dragonhym will have you crave a series.

Overall I enjoyed the gameplay, also tends to be out of stock frequently, that speaks volume.

Pretty fun game, though a bit weird. It takes some getting used to the strange level up mechanics, and there are several frustrating sections, but overall it's a fun game and I enjoyed my time with it.

I love the graphics and music on this one. It’s a full fledged adventure for GBC! My only complaint is is that the movement and battles are a little on the slow side pacing-wise. Beyond that it’s got puzzles, random turn based battles, and a good sense of adventure.
