- Julian U.Verified Buyer2 days agoRated 4 out of 5 starsClassic platforming fun
Hermano is a stylish, compact platformer with charming Day-of-the-Dead-inspired visuals and a catchy chiptune soundtrack. You play as Nano, tossing his own head to fight off undead enemies and solve gravity-flipping puzzles. The controls are responsive, and the level design is creative across 15 main stages. It’s a short game, around two hours, and lacks a save feature, but it’s a memorable and well-crafted experience. A great pick for fans of retro platformers looking for something unique and fun.

Holy guacamole, Hermano for the GameBoy Color is a straight-up 5-star masterpiece! This indie platformer from Pat Morita Team, published by Modretro, is a Day of the Dead-themed adventure that’s got me grinning like its skeletal star, Nano. The story kicks off with a heart-tugging cutscene: Mano, a kid, visits his brother Nano’s grave, only for demons to snatch him into hell. You play as Nano, a chipper skeleton, on a quest to save your hermano across 15 levels of pure pixelated brilliance. The visuals are a knockout—crisp, colorful sprites and spooky-cute graveyards, deserts, and cathedrals that scream GBC charm. The chiptune soundtrack is an absolute bop, perfectly matching the vibe of each stage.

This is a superb little title that really feels polished.
Music, graphics gameplay are all top tier.
The only negative I could pose is that the game could use a save system. 15 levels to get through in one sitting is a little daunting when you have little time.
The build quality is fantastic from Modretro and the customer support was fantastic. I had an issue with the first copy sent out and Modretro were super quick in response and rectification. I’ll definitely be purchasing from them again.

Love all the games I’ve purchased. I have every cart game you guys have released. I’m in my 40’s, it’s as if I’m back in the late 80’s early 90’s. Keep up the great work. We love what you guys are doing for the retro game scene and their die-hard fans. 10 stars across the board.
