How It Started
My interest started during the COVID lockdown – just looking for something creative to fill the time. I discovered GB Studio and became obsessed with pushing its limitations. The more I explored what it could do, the more seriously I took game development.
Other Games / Projects
I began with a few horror titles like Neighbor and Bitterroot. After that, I started developing the Traumatarium series. The next chapters – Obelisk and Catacombs of Tracia – are currently in the works.
Fun Fact
I usually approach development from a graphic design perspective first. I’m drawn to the world-building and visuals of the Game Boy – it’s always the foundation I build from. The aesthetic drives everything else.
The Idea
Why I Made This Game
I’ve always loved dungeon crawlers, and it felt like a genre that hadn’t really been explored deeply on the Game Boy. So I decided to slowly build on it, layer by layer, with each new iteration.
What Makes This Game Special
Honestly, it started as something just for me – something I wanted to play myself. Seeing people connect with it has been incredibly humbling. That personal origin makes it all the more meaningful.
You'll Love This If...
You love exploring eerie worlds, figuring out punishing mechanics, and soaking in detailed pixel art.
Inspiration / Influences
Too many to name! But a few big ones: Mörk Borg, Warhammer Quest (1995), and classic adventure comics. I’ve tried to mash up all the nerdy things I loved growing up into this world.
Favorite Feature
It’s all about the moments of discovery – when you reach a new area and get to take in the world I’ve built. I especially love working on the background details that help bring those places to life.

A lot of people online said this game is a glorified slideshow.l, but it's so much more than that. Copying save codes every time you want to reload makes not perishing such a reward. Love this game!

A simple little survival game that I've had a blast with so far. Still a lot of game to be seen (I've made it a map in, I think there's three?), but as it stands, its mechanics are streamlined enough to be simple to pick up but punishing enough that run optimization is a worthwhile pursuit.
You manage food, you manage health, you try to figure out where you need to go and what you need to do. Blobber-style map navigation, one-on-one fights that boil down to "do I fight, run, eat, or heal?" there's a certain urgency in making sure you don't starve to death (natch) or die outright. Simple, but not every turn-based RPG needs to be a Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Pokemon, y'know?
As stated, the spritework is incredible. Gorgeous looking game, feels like the culmination of someone saying "why doesn't *every* room look like a cutscene" and running with it. So you end up with a setting with beautiful women, beautiful men, gorgeous locales, and strong incentive to keep exploring just to see what they've managed to do on the platform.
Awesome little game, excellent little cart, would recommend checking out the original on itch to get a little taste of the game. Excited to see what the developer does next!

Didn’t really know what to expect…but this game rocks!! Love the dungeon crawl format, love the old school necessity to take notes. It’s pure vibe!

Another great game from some of the creators of ModRetros line up. Keep creating and making retro the future.
